Steering and Docking

This class is for scale or semi scale boats and involves steering the boat around a complex course. The course normally consist of a series of gates or buoys which the boat must complete without touching. There is normally at least one gate involving a reverse manoeuvre and it normally ends with the boat entering a dock.

The course is normally designed to produce a challenge for the competing skipper who must show that he is in full control of his craft. Gates are normally placed in such a way that careful manoeuvring is needed to pass through them all without touching. Some gates have two options with one much tighter to allow for smaller boats.

Scoring:-

The competitor starts with 100 points from which any penalties are deducted.

Penalties:-

1. A missed gate loses 15 points.

2. Hitting any part of a gate or obstacle loses 5 points

3. Driving along the side of a canal or dock loses 8 points

4. Excessive manoeuvring loses 3 points
